Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little, when we arrived safely because we sailed too close to shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we posses, we have lost the thirst for the waters of life; having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity, and in our efforts to build a new earth we have allowed our vision of the new heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas where storms will show your masjesty; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask You to push back the horizon of hopes, and to push back the future in strength, courage, hope and love.
This we ask in the name of our Captain, who is Jesus Christ. Amen
Sir Francis Drake, the first of twelve sons, was the second person to circumnavigate the world which took three years. History shows he was not a perfect person; full of flaws and discrepancies of faith and life. He was totally human like we are. But at some point in time, he found who he needed, Jesus.
The prayer above is a heart felt prayer and one that I need, as a fellow human, to pray and think about more often. If I allowed God to disturb the waters of my life, what could I accomplish? Could I change my little corner of the world, or could I change the world? Should I stay complacent with where I am, secure and safe, or am I brave enough to become the warrior that I see inside of me?
Who do you see inside of you? What are you afraid of, or what are you satisfied with? Have we both dreamed too small? Maybe our small dreams were enough but if you are like me, there is a pull, a tension, a desire in our hearts to be more. There are things that are not done. There are things that only you or I can accomplish. God made us and designed us–purposely and thoughtfully and intentionally. You and I are here to do what He saw when we were thought of by Him.
This unique design is what calls out to our hearts. It beckons us. It seduces us with more. No one can do what we do, like we do. Because of this pull inside of me, I pray this prayer with passion:
Disturb me, Lord, that I might seek Your face. I will find in You the strength to accomplish what You have designed. I do not have to see what that design is, I just have to follow. As I follow make me hunger for more and more of You until nothing else matters, until the earth fades and all I see is Your majesty. Disturb me, Lord, until all that will satisfy me in this life is life with You. Amen (let it be).
