Open Letter to Nancy # 6

And the Crowd Cheers…

Hello friend. I am very sad and very confused at what America is becoming. I am deeply disturbed and I hope you are too. Here is a little of what has me anxious.

There was a law passed in 2019 that both the democrats and republicans agreed on. The PACT Act protects animals against abuse including killing painfully and sexual exploitation and makes such a United States federal crime. Penalty is a fine or prison up to seven years. What bothers me a little is part of the wording “living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians.”

And the crowd cheered…

In 2004 there is a law that states that an unborn baby if it is killed by assault or other physical harm to the mother that the perpetrator can be charged with murder. The actual reading of the law, “As used in this section, the term “unborn child” means a child in utero, and the term “child in utero” or “child, who is in utero” means a member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development, who is carried in the womb. Then in the recent past New York made it legal to abort a human baby up until the mother has contractions.

And the crowd cheered…

Not long ago, two sheriff department employees were shot in the head. They were rushed to to hospital in critical condition unknown if they would live or die.

And the crowd cheered…

A person marching for what they believed in, different from those around him, was shot and killed.

And the crowd cheered…

Please, tell me when humans became less important than turtles or trees or worms or birds. Tell me when it became okay to kill someone because they think differently than you do. Tell me when burning and stealing and spitting on people became okay. Tell me why it is okay for soldiers to fight and die to give people the right to protest peacefully. Tell me when peaceful became burning and looting and beating and killing. Friend, I have chosen to love you as a friend, but as a friend I am asking you to see what I see and hear the cries of the raped and beaten and the tears of the children as they are sold into slavery. I thought slavery was a bad thing in your eyes but are you looking away from the children now?

I hope you can see my confusion of what is perceived as being right and wrong, good and bad. Killing is bad. Being kind is good. Burning something that does not belong to you is bad. Helping protect the weak is good. America gives people more rights than any country and these people want America to die. Why? Because we call what is good, good and what is bad, bad? I pray that as a godly woman in power you see truth in justice. I fear for this land. I fear for you.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter…which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him…Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people.” from Isaiah 5:20-25 KJV

May we both be humbled before God and seek His wisdom, His knowledge, and His grace in this time of turmoil. Where we have wronged people, may God forgive us and help us heal the wounds. Where we have been harmed, may God help us forgive the ones who caused the harm. May we see people through the lens of compassion instead of hatred. May God be merciful to us. Hear our prayer.

In Christ’s love – Kathy
