Prayer for President Trump

As I was reading my devotions today, I came upon a Psalm, Psalm 142 to be exact. I began praying it for me and then I knew…this prayer was for President Trump. I doubt he will ever see my prayer, but I know that God, who guides our thoughts and words, will make his heart know that God loves, God cares and God sees.

Who in all of American history has ever had to deal with something that has shut the whole world down? Who in all of American history has a president been shown so much hatred? Who in American history needs the prayers of God’s church more than now-today-not only for the president and the country but for the world?

Psalm 142:1-2 I cry out to the Lord with my voice; with my voice to the Lord I make my supplication. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.

Jesus, hear the prayers of the President.

Psalm 142:3-4 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk they have secretly set a snare for me. Look on my right hand and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me; refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul.

Jesus, let the President know that You are there and You have the last say.

Psalm 142:5 I cried out to You, O Lord; I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

Jesus, your are his portion, You are his rock, he is your chosen servant.

Psalm 142:6 Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low; deliver me from my persecutors, for they are stronger than I.

Jesus, hear this president’s soul cry and let him know that You are stronger than any persecutors.

Psalm 142:7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name; the righteous shall surround me, for You shall deal bountifully with them.

Jesus, let President Trump remember to praise you all the days of his life.

Let the church rise up and pray for our leaders. Let the church rise up and pray for the country, for this is a direction from the Lord.

...Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader... 1 Timothy 2:1-2 TPT

...For there can be no authority in the universe except by God's appointment, which means that every authority that exists has been instituted by God. Romans 13:1 TPT

Jesus, I choose to stand in the gap. This is not a comfortable place to be, but I choose to stand here. There is so much wrong in this nation. There is so much hatred for people who think or look different. There is so much death and destruction and biting and kicking and screaming at each other and lies and threats. I choose to stand here. I am Your child. I am only one but I stand here, and I ask that You protect the President. I ask that You guide him. I ask that peace be given to his heart. I ask that knowledge and wisdom that comes only from above be given to him. If those around him who give counsel are not speaking the truth, let their words become bitter in their own mouths. Most of all Jesus, let America hear You calling out to each individual who lives in this great land. I stand in the gap. Church, stand with me and pray.

Christ Every Morning

My husband was to be born on Saint Patrick’s Day. He decided not to show up then but he was still named after this Patron Saint. As I was doing a Bible study I recently learned a little bit more about him.

Saint Patrick was mistreated by the Irish and used as a slave. He escaped and fled to England. While there his heart became burdened for those who had mistreated him, and he went back to minister to them, and it was during this time that he wrote a prayer, a confession of who Christ was to him.

It spoke to my soul. I needed to confess who Christ is to me every day. I change the words a lot because some days I need Him to be healer, or comforter, or forgiver, or friend, or King. Below is one of my confessions of who Christ is in my life. As I read them out loud, they humble me.

Christ in me. Christ with me. Christ through me. Christ in my words. Christ above me. Christ beneath me. Christ in front of me. Christ behind me. Christ at my left hand. Christ at my right hand. Christ in my ears. Christ in my eyes. Christ is my Savior. Christ into Your hands I place my life today.

Only You are Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty…and we are His people, His sons and His daughters. Into Your hands.
